I grew up in Los Angeles, CA and was fortunate to be born into a fantastic family with terrific parents. I am the sixth child in a family of eight, and when I came along there was no more room at the “family inn”, so my parents had to find a new place to live. I guess my parents learned early on that I had a talent for disruption. Today I try to channel that talent into more productive endeavors.
If “disruption” is in any way a virtue, I view my job as disrupting the typical Wall Street practice of conventional thinking, thinking that does little to help investors. In the aggregate, my industry has a poor track record when it comes to investment performance. It doesn’t have to be this way. I hope this site serves as a beacon for educating investors and providing an alternative way of thinking about investing, one that raises the bar just a little.
When I’m not thinking about investing I’m spending my free time working at the gym, hanging at the beach, satisfying my craving for In-N-Out Burgers (don’t tell my trainer), cheering on my favorite football team (Go Irish!) or travelling to some new destination. Most importantly, I have three wonderful children who make me proud every day and are the light of my life.
Ned earned his B.A. in Economics from the University of Notre Dame and an M.B.A. from the Anderson School at UCLA. He has worked for Morgan Stanley in New York as an investment banking analyst, Times Mirror in financial planning, and for Wedbush Securities as the manager of their online investment banking business.
